200g round grain rice
75g yellow split peas
1kg fresh herbs or an equal portion of dried herbs, chives, parsley, spearmint, coriander leaves
250g Persian plums (large, sour-sweet or dried ones)
2 middle-sized onions
salt, pepper

cooking:
Mince onions, brown them in a pan, pour in 2 litres water, bring it to the boil, add rinsed rice and split peas also herbs (if dried, first soak them in cold water), reduce heat and simmer until the rice is completely cooked to rags and the split peas are tender. then add fresh or soaked, dried plums and simmer for a very long time (3 hours around). Finally season with salt and pepper.
